ACS TRADING AND PRINTING

Dear Friends,

Many of you will be aware of the changes that have been set in motion at the Additional Curates Society over the last 24 months.

Thank you for your ongoing support during this transition. The core work of the ACS goes on and grants are made to support parishes with the financial cost of having a parish priest or curate, with approximately £1 million pledged over the next five years.

However, after much deliberation the Board of Directors and Trustees (often called the ACS Council) has concluded that all trading activities including our printing service will close on 31st March. As I hope you will appreciate the cost of trading has become greater than the income generated which makes the operation no longer viable.

We will not be producing or distributing Ordos or diaries for 2027.

Sadly, as a result of this development, Robert Jordan, who has been with the ACS for over thirty years, will be leaving at the end of May. He has been a friendly and helpful voice at the end of the telephone and many of us have got to know him personally when visiting the office. I will miss him enormously and I’m sure that many others will too. In the meantime, he will be on hand to assist with any transitional processes that may be required so do be in touch if necessary.

On behalf of the Board, may I take this opportunity to thank all who have made use of our trading and printing operation over the years and apologise for any inconvenience this decision may cause. Yours,

+Stephen Beverley,  Chairman of The Additional Curates Society

Who we are?

The Additional Curates Society was founded in 1837 by a Christian layman, Joshua Watson.

It's purpose is to ensure that the Christian Faith is proclaimed in poor and populous parishes. It does this by funding assistant priests, and encouraging vocations to the priesthood.

ACS believes that the sacrament of Holy Order, Priesthood, is a precious gift from God and a means of grace for His people. ACS also holds precious the people of God, especially in poor and populous parishes.ACS prays and works to ensure that parishes will have priests. It gives grants to parishes for priests. It fosters and encourages vocations to the priesthood.
